Mind-body and place

There are countless possibilities for interdisciplinary art adventures involving mind-body and place, especially when autistic sensory experiences bring unique perspectives to creative narratives.

These mind-body and place explorations are underpinned by an aspiration to inform a better societal understanding of how we all experience the world in unique ways.

Mayhem, Monsters and Mice

Autistic sensory experiences can be far from fun, they can be de-habilitating and disruptive –and to add extra complexity every individuals’ experience is unique.

With a long history of social discrimination, misunderstanding and judgements linked to autism (lack of empathy eh!) this project looked to use creative coding to bring autistic sensory experiences to life.

Often there just isn’t the textual language available to describe autistic sensory experiences; using terms like ‘bad light’ sanitise the intensity of the mind-body pain which it packages. Visual narratives create a multi-layered space, which along with the movement which comes from creative coding gives scope for closer representations of these complex experiences.
